🔥 After the Outpouring

Seven Years to the 2,000th Pentecost

Pentecost 2033 marks 2,000 years since the Spirit fell in Acts 2. The Acts 2 pattern — prayer, power, proclamation, people, practice, multiplication — and what seven faithful years could look like from Canada to the nations.

On Pentecost Sunday 2026, at The Outpouring in Hamilton, we said something out loud that has stayed with us ever since: seven more years until the 2,000th Pentecost. Pentecost 2033 falls on June 5. Two thousand years since one hundred and twenty people in an upper room were filled with the Holy Spirit and the Church walked out into the streets of Jerusalem.

Pentecost Sunday ·

Many date the first Christian Pentecost to AD 33 — Pentecost 2033 marks two thousand years since the Spirit fell in Acts 2. Not a prediction: a horizon to aim the next seven years at.

📅 ADD PENTECOST 2033 TO YOUR CALENDAR

Why 2033?

Many historians date the crucifixion and resurrection to AD 33; others prefer AD 30. Either way, we're living within a few years of two millennia since Acts 2. We are not attaching a prediction to the date — nobody knows the day or the hour, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. We're treating it as a horizon: a fixed point on the calendar that asks a simple question. What will the Church in our generation do with the time?

The Acts 2 pattern

Pentecost wasn't a single moment. Luke records a sequence, and every outpouring since has followed some version of it:

  1. Prayer — "They all joined together constantly in prayer" (Acts 1:14).
  2. Power — "All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit" (Acts 2:4).
  3. Proclamation — "Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd" (Acts 2:14).
  4. People — "About three thousand were added to their number that day" (Acts 2:41).
  5. Practice — "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer" (Acts 2:42).
  6. Multiplication — "And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved" (Acts 2:47).

Look at the last line. Daily. The fire of Acts 2 wasn't kept alive by a better event the following year. It was kept alive by ordinary believers who kept praying, kept gathering and kept talking about Jesus — every day, in homes and in the streets.

An outpouring is measured by what's still burning on Tuesday.

What happened after The Outpouring

That's why nobody left The Outpouring with just a memory. Everyone left with a next step: a local outreach group, a mission trip, a story to tell, a city to love. In Hamilton that looks like Love on Hamilton, which has taken the Gospel to the streets every week since 2014. Beyond Hamilton it looks like Love on the World, working toward 100 multiplying outreach groups around the world.

None of that is glamorous. It is a group of believers meeting on a weeknight, praying together and walking out to talk to people. But it is exactly what Acts 2:42-47 describes — and it is the difference between an outpouring and an evening.

Seven years is enough

Here is the math The Outpouring put in front of everyone: if one person makes one disciple a year, and each new disciple does the same, the numbers double every year. Seven years of that turns one believer into 128. That's not a forecast; it's arithmetic, and it is the reason Jesus told us to make disciples rather than just converts. Multiplication beats addition every time — if it actually starts.

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

Habakkuk 2:14

Your next seven years

Jesus' last words before He ascended are still the best mission statement the Church has ever had:

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Acts 1:8

Jerusalem for us is Hamilton, and your Jerusalem is wherever you're reading this. Seven years. Let's not waste one of them.
